Die Afrikanische Aubergine (Solanum aethiopicum) gehört zu der Familie Solanaceae (Nachtschattengewächse) und ist eine wärmeliebende Art. Die Früchte können sowohl im noch etwas grünen, wie auch im reifen Zustand gegessen werden, müssen jedoch gekocht werden.
Die Aussaat der Afrikanische Aubergine erfolgt ähnlich wie bei Capsicum ab Januar bis März im Gewächshaus bzw. in der Wohnung. Ab Mai können die Pflanzen in geschützter Lage nach draußen gestellt werden.
